My Second Walk
I am excited to be participating in Hike for Hospice Palliative Care!
Thank you for stopping by my hike page. My name's Hayden and I'm excited to participate in my second Hike for Hospice. This year will be extra special because I know how to walk now. Yesss! My family and some of our closest friends raise money for our local hospice every spring. We really hope that you will support our team and help construct the 5-bedroom hospice planned for Orillia.
When my Grampy Gordo was sick, the closest hospice to us was Hospice Simcoe in Barrie. We don't live in Barrie so that got us wondering how many people depend on that 10-bed facility. I can't count very high, but the answer is "too many people." The closest city to us, Orillia, doesn't have a residential hospice at all. That's about to change! Thanks to people like you, a residential facility (Mariposa House Hospice) is scheduled to be built this year.
This is wonderful news, but did you know that local hospices rely on community support for nearly half of their operating costs? That's a lot of money! If we all give a little bit of our money to our local hospice then the nice people there can keep caring for families like mine. This is why being part of a community is so great. A lot of people think that hospice is only sad. It is sad, but it's also where you can find people being the very best people that they can be.
Wait! I forgot to mention something really important. Hospice care is FREE!
Please support me in the Hike for Hospice. Your donation means the world to me and my family.
