As many of you know, Steph's dad received palliative care prior to passing away from Lung Cancer in 2005. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of palliative care options available in Canada - especially in rural communities. In fact, 16-30% of Canadians who are nearing their end-of-life do not have access to or receive hospice palliative care services.
Steph is now working as the Fund Development Officer for the Foothills Country Hospice Society and would love for friends and family to join us in the national Hike for Hospice fundraising event on May 6. Luke and Penny will be there too!
Since opening their doors in January 2008, the Foothills Country Hospice Society has provided compassionate, end-of-life care to more than 1000 patients and their loved ones.
Did you know?
- 59% of patients they serve come from Calgary, and 41% come from surrounding Foothills communities.
- The Foothills Country Hospice Society's annual operating budget is $2.8 million. AHS covers 59% and the Hospice is tasked with raising the remaining $1.2 million.
With your support, you’ll help to ensure the Foothills Country Hospice Society can continue providing compassionate, end-of-life and bereavement care to patients and their loved ones.
