Come hike with me!
Foothills Country hospice is where mom spent the last few months of her life. It is in a beautiful country setting, with paved pathways where you can take your loved ones outside, even when they are bed-ridden It was such a beautiful summer last year that I was able to take mom out almost everyday. Mom loved seeing all the birds, butterflies, flowers, wild berries and deer.
The staff took excellent care of mom, including making her favourite meals, and always with a smile.
The hospice was also a safe, caring place for me. They continue to support me as I learn to deal with the loss of mom. It is a journey!
Hike for Hospice is a unique, national fundraising event held across Canada that brings together organizations working collectively in hospice palliative care to raise funds and awareness in their community! The money I raise from the hike will go directly to supporting palliative care programs and support services at the Foothills Country Hospice Society.
Since opening their doors in January 2008, the Foothills Country Hospice Society has provided compassionate, end-of-life care to more than 1000 patients and their loved ones.
Did you know?
- 59% of patients they serve come from Calgary, and 41% come from surrounding Foothills communities.
- The Foothills Country Hospice Society's annual operating budget is $2.8 million. Alberta Health Services covers 59% and the Hospice is required to raise the remaining $1.2 million shortfall.
With your support, you'll help to ensure the Foothills Country Hospice Society can continue providing examplary end-of-life and bereavement care to patients and their families.
Donating is easy and it will only take you a few minutes! Thank you for your support!
